Charter Not on Our List? What to Ask Your Education Specialist
October 13, 2026
A mom texted us last week: “My son’s charter isn’t one of the three you list. Is that a no?” It isn’t a no. It’s a “not yet,” and the next step is a short conversation that only you can start.
Our Riverside academy is closed for remodel until Sunday, November 1, 2026, so there are no Riverside classes before then. That actually makes October a decent month to get this moving.
What We Can Say for Sure
Flow Academy BJJ Riverside is an approved enrichment vendor with Mission Vista Academy, Excel Academy and Elite Academic Academy. If your child’s school isn’t one of those, you can ask the school to request vendor approval. What the school needs, how long it takes and what your funds can cover are the school’s answers to give, not ours. We’re not going to guess at another school’s rules.
Four Questions for Your Education Specialist
Your Education Specialist is the person who knows your child’s funds. A short email with these four questions gets you further than a phone tag marathon:
- Does the school take vendor requests from families, and who handles them?
- What do you need from me to start one?
- Can enrichment funds go toward martial arts or physical activity for my child?
- Is there a date I should know about, or can I start now?
Write down who answered and what they said. If the answer is “ask again in a few weeks,” that’s still an answer, and you’ll know when to circle back. Keep the reply somewhere you can find it, because you’ll probably want to forward it to us later.
What We Do on Our Side
Once you know the school’s next step, call or text and tell us which school it is. We’ll send whatever vendor information your school asks for. We can’t promise an approval or a timeline, because that decision belongs to the school, and we’d rather say so than hand you a date we made up.
Why Not Wait Until We Open
Because the request takes time on the school’s side, and the week we reopen is the worst time to be asking for the first time. A family that starts in October may be able to walk in on opening week with answers instead of questions. A family that starts in November is simply starting the same process later.
We covered the October timing in our paperwork post, and our charter schools page lays out the approved vendor details. If you can’t wait until November, our Indio academy’s classes are running normally.
Our new Riverside home opens November 1, 2026 at 10081 Indiana Ave, Suite A-2. Call or text (951) 337-3781.
